In Order To Live: Yeonmi Park

Ever wondered what life is really like in North Korea? This is the true story of Yeonmi Park who recounts her childhood there – where individuals are not allowed to have a single independent thought (she grew up believing that Dear Leader could read her mind) – and the starvation, oppression and total control exercised by the State is devastatingly detailed.

At the age of 13, she and her mother were smuggled into China, whereupon they fell into the hands of people traffickers and their next several years were harrowing, to say the least. But they’ve survived. They eventually made their way to South Korea where they now live, and at the age of just 22, she’s on a mission to tell the world about North Korea, and what can happen to people when they leave.
