Twelve year old Edward is the sole survivor of a plane crash which takes the lives of his family and makes him an immediate national celebrity. People rally round to help but it’s his friendship with a new neighbour, Shay, which saves him.
There were 190 other passengers on the flight, many of whose relatives feel compelled to contact this survivor. Together Edward and Shay discover hundreds of letters addressed to him but hidden by a well meaning uncle, desperate to help his nephew get back to a normal life.
Through these letters we learn more about those people and a real sense of community emerges amidst the tragedy.
